Digital Tech 1 -Week 3 Camera raw

What is Camera raw and what are the benefits of using camera raw

Camera Raw was initially built for raw image processing, but over time, it has evolved to include the ability to process JPEG and TIFF images as well. So which should you use for editing your images, Camera Raw or Photoshop? The simple answer is - both! Think of Camera Raw as an image developer, while Photoshop is an image editor. First, we open the image in Camera Raw for initial developing, much like we'd process a film negative in a darkroom. Then, once we've processed the image and it's looking good, we can open it in Photoshop for further editing and refinement.
In a Camera Raw/Photoshop workflow, Camera Raw is where we do all of our initial processing work - setting the overall white balance, exposure, contrast, and color saturation, adding some initial sharpening, reducing noise, and more. In general, you can think of our work in Camera Raw as global edits. That is, edits that affect the entire image as a whole. Once we have the overall image looking the way we want, we can then move on to Photoshop for more specific local edits which is where Photoshop excels. it's certainly possible to do some local edits using the tools in Camera Raw, but in general, Camera Raw is all about making the initial overall image look good.

For this photo i used a grey  picker in camera raw to make the background more neutral, this made the colours of the flowers stand out more and pop.

i used the sliders in camera raw to correct this photo, i bought the tempreture slider into the blue to thee left and the tint slider into the magenta to the right giving the photo a cooler and more neutral look as if taken around mid day.

I used the shadow slider to add detail to the dark right corner of this photo by pulling the shadow slider to the right. I also pulled the vibrance slider to the right to put more colour into the blues

.
i slightly increased the contrast in this photo and decreased the highlights to bring  some detailinto the sky. i increased the clarity to bring detail into the foliage but not to much that it looked fake. i also increased the vibrance to bring out the greens and blues. this photo is cropped to a 1:1 ratio

i used the basic panel to to colour correct this image . using the tempreture slider i pulled it to the blue left side creating a cooler image, i increased the contrast and vibrance aswell as exposer to bring out a brighter image. i also lowered the clarity to soften the photo. this photo was also cropped to erase a figure on the right

Finding a over exposed image i took i used the exposer and high light slider to adjust the image and bring detail back into it. as you can see in the over exposed image the background is plain white but in the corrected image chairs , steps and signs are visible, the subject herslef is also clearer and more detailed .
i also used vibrance to bounce a little color into the image

Finding a underexposed photo ive taken i used the exposer, highlights and shadow sliders  to lighten details . using vibrance to bring back colour to dull areas of green.

Choose 2 of your favourite images taken this term and colour correct using the Basic panel

in this image i used the vibrance slider to bring more colour into it i also slid the exposure to the right to brighten the whole image, i used the clarity slider to slightly adjust the clarity , the adjustments made the photo more neutral as well as make the image more appealing.

i am not sure why i loved a picture of a bottle so much , but i do. I favour low f/ I think it makes a photo more dramatic. in this photo i used the temperature slider to pull out the yellows and bring the blue colour through. i slightly adjusted the exposure up to brighten the picture a bit. i brought the contrast up to about 50, i think it gave it a crisper look along with the slight raise of the clarity. i also used the vibrance slider slightly to bring a bit more colour to the image.
